In Bergamo we visited churches, ate every couple of hours, and climbed to the top of a bell tower. The view was gorgeous and we stayed there until we were frightened away by the bell starting to ring.

A few weeks ago, the day after going to Lake Maggiore, I went on another day trip with my friends to Bergamo. Before planning the trip, I had thought the only thing noteworthy in Bergamo was the airport. This may be true of the lower city of Bergamo, but not la citta alta, the upper city of Bergamo.
In Bergamo we visited churches, ate every couple of hours, and climbed to the top of a bell tower. The view was gorgeous and we stayed there until we were frightened away by the bell starting to ring.
It was the perfect day trip for a weekend I would've otherwise spent in Milan.
