Lago Maggiore

This past Friday I went to Lake Maggiore with my study abroad program. We took a train in the morning and arrived in Stresa, a small town on the lake, about an hour later.  The town was very cute and had lots of upscale resorts scattered along the shore.  Soon after we arrived, we hopped on a boat to explore an island. This island had a gorgeous botanical garden with small fish ponds, stone paths, and beautiful flowers. We explored for an hour or so before lunch.
After that, we hopped back onto the boat and went to la Isola Bella, another island. This is the island with a beautiful palace that we got to explore. It was exactly how you would imagine a palace to be like--elaborate sculptures and buildings, gardens with fruit and exotic flowers, and even beautiful white peacocks wandering the grounds.

After wandering through the palace, we had lunch at an overpriced restaurant near the water. We ordered ravioli and were surprised when our plates arrived with a mere 6 raviolis each. The best part of the meal was the bottle of prosecco that we bought to celebrate one of our friend's birthdays.
After that, we fell asleep on a dock and basked in the sun. It was the perfect end to a relaxed day by the lake.

ciao! xo
