Lago di Como

After failed attempts until 2 am last Saturday morning to make plans to go to Cinque Terre for a night, we gave up and went to bed, content with exploring Milan for another weekend. However, another apartment nearby invited us to go to Lake Como with them on Sunday. It's only an hour away by train, so we left at 9:30 am to start our day trip by the lake.
It was extremely hot there (high 70's, low 80's), but one of our weather apps predicted rain so my apartment wore jeans, covered shoes, and tank tops. Needless to say, we were miserable in the clothes we wore. However, this didn't distract us for long. Lake Como is beautiful, with various small towns on the shores. We walked around one of the towns for a bit and had lunch and wanted to take the ferry to Bellagio, another beautiful town on the opposite shore of the lake, but decided that the ferry tickets were too expensive. We lay down in a shady, grassy area near the shore of the lake to people watch and take in the scenery until we were rested enough to continue.
We decided to take the train up to the top of the mountain, which ended up being beautiful. The view was gorgeous and there was a cafe at the very top where we ate pizza and sipped prosecco. It was the perfect end to a great day trip. I'm hoping to go again another day to see Bellagio, the cute town across the lake!
